FAQ

Why use Paste Anywhere?

Other tools often require many steps for fast clipboard sharing, or they require the same Wi-Fi and installing an app on every platform. Inspired by AirDrop, Paste Anywhere greatly reduces those steps, doesn’t require the same Wi-Fi, and makes it easy to switch between platforms for content and file transfers.

What if transfers are slow?

Short answer: Try switching to the same Wi-Fi so the P2P link can use the local network.

When you’re not on Wi-Fi, speed mostly depends on the mobile carriers between the two devices. For normal text and images, Paste Anywhere still works well for quick cross-platform switching. For videos and large files, or P2P transfers across different carriers, speeds can be limited by carrier conditions (signal strength, base station location, and more). For large files, if speed is slow, switch to the same Wi-Fi to use LAN transfer for higher throughput.

Can it work under a VPN?

Short answer: Yes.

Traffic may be affected by the VPN, which can make P2P connections less stable and reduce transfer speed.

How is data transferred, and is it secure?

User data is transferred with the standard WebRTC protocol and encrypted between clients. WebRTC is widely adopted and validated worldwide. WebRTC (Wikipedia)
